F/O Gordon Douglas Russell was a member of 440 Squadron during the Second World War. He was a witness to the crash of 440 Squadron pilot McConvey.
Russell received his his wings at 2 SFTS on 28 August 1942 and was posted to 440 Sqn from 83 GSU on 16 July 1944. He was tour expired on 7 March 1945 and posted to BPC in UK for repatriation to Canada. Russell retired from the RCAF on 14 September 1945.
